You may click on the lock symbol to activate the layers lock, so you will not disturb the contents of the layers. Just as in any every other Adobe layers palette, the lock and visibility icons are seen arranged just before the layers palette. Type the name you want to give the layer. You will find the cursor arrow changing into a finger cursor, and the text is selected in Blue. To change the name of the layer, double click on the existing layer name.
